Quick Prayer Request

My mom found out about a week ago that she had a stress fracture in her foot. She has the big black moon boot but has experienced a lot of pain. She went to the doctor Tuesday for a diabetes check up and he was very concerned about her foot and ordered an MRI for today. The long and the short of it is it appears that she has Osteomyelitis. She is scheduled for surgery tomorrow (Friday) at 2pm central time. The fact that we just found out today around 4pm is not comforting to me. Obviously the doctor is concerned or this would be scheduled for next week some time. So I am headed west. It takes me 6 hours to get there, so I will have an early morning.

Please pray that all goes well with the surgery and that she comes out of it ok. Mom has diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea. None of those things make surgery a fun proposition. Diabetes causes SLOW healing and inability to efficiently fight infection, which further complicates this matter. The worst case scenario of Osteomyelitis for a diabetic is very grim.

I appreciate your prayers and will update as soon as I can. Hopefully tomorrow night.

Thinking of your mom, her surgery, and your family. Hope everything goes well. Also thought I'd let you know about this blog that has gluten free recipes:

It was good to talk to you today, even if it was only for a few minutes. Glad your mom is hanging in there. Get home safely. I will call in a few days.
