What Cha Been Up To?

We have had the sickies, so my posting has been at a minimum. As Kyan recovered from the double ear infection, the evidence of his taking antibiotics became very clear. Yeast makes him (and us) CRAZY! The hitting and tantrumming returned with a vengeance. Even though we quadrupled his probiotics and we are still giving an antifungal, he was hell on wheels for about 5 days. We are still struggling. His OCD (Obsessive Compulsive) behaviors are pretty hard to handle right now. He is obsessed with certain toys and books. This seems relatively mild except that he does not share and hits and steals toys from the other 2 constantly, making it very hard for me to even leave the room. He just pounds on them when he hits, leaving red marks :(. He is in a stage where he wants whatever he can't have...perhaps this is as much personality as it is disorder. I find it hard to determine what is what most of the time. Nevertheless, if Braylen has a toy or book Kyan automatically has to have it and he becomes obsessed with taking the book. So we spend 20 minutes dealing with screaming, hitting, time out, refereeing over a book that I know he doesn't even like. Once that battle is over, he moves on to whatever else Braylen or Kynsie has. It is exhausting.

I had a followup phone appointment with Dr. Bernui. We have added (yes added) more supplements to the regimen.

Cod Liver Oil (good fats for the brain-helps cognition and language)

Tripled Probiotics for everyone

Selenium, Chromium, & Vitamin D--all 3 were low on these according to blood tests

for Kyan-GABA 3 times per day instead of 2--this makes him MUCH more calm and makes midday more tolerable. Thank you LORD for GABA!

Also-added Transfer Factor STP-this helps the immune system fight bacteria and viruses. Dr. Bernui and I both suspect that Kyan has an underlying chronic bacterial infection going on that is causing the OCD behaviors among other things. This supplement will help his immune system, but it isn't the only ammunition we need.

Kyan is also about to start Enhansa. This supplement should greatly help with his OCD issues. It came in the mail on Tuesday and I have delayed beginning treatment (selfishly) because he has been such a bear, and Enhansa tends to have a STRONG (read awful) die off effect. I have to psyche myself up to handle another 10 days of potentially even worse behavior. The end result is always worth it, but man, I HATE die-off.

I plan to bite the bullet either today or tomorrow and get the ball rolling. I will let you know how that goes.

In other news, we have all had this nasty cold virus for about a week. the boys are over it. Brandon is well. I am almost well. Sis got it last and is still pretty sick. She had a persistent fever (unlike boys) and with the media's obsession with Swine Flu and the fact that 2 schools in our close proximity have closed this week because of H1N1, I erred on the side of caution and took her in. Thankfully--no flu, and it is viral, so her little body is just fighting it off. She is much better today.

That's it for now. Have to work. May post more later.

Yeast is so awful, just dreadful!! I wish you the best of luck with the new supplements. We did have good results with cod liver oil. More speech and it was immediate. I have not tried the other things you mentioned. Keep us posted and hang in there through the yeast beast die off.
