today is a special day!!!

today is August 10th, 2005 and it is the most bestest day in the world. Today, 3 years ago I married my best friend. The past three years have been the best years of my life.

a little background on Sunny and I. I attended a small community college in MS, after I graduated I went to the University of Tennessee at Martin, I only knew like 2 people literally. I started playing in the worship band at the BCM (BSU for all us old folks!) there. She was a small group leader and a good friend of a good friend of mine by the name of Stephen Cavness. Needless to say, we became friends, then good friends. We even had a "non-date". That is where you go on a date, but act like you are not on a date!! We had planned to go with a group of friends to Jackson TN bowling during spring break 2001. Well, they all left us hanging and we were the only two that ended up going. So we ended up having the best time, but we were only "friends".

I remember one night we decided to study and get pizza at her house (sounds like an episode of Felicity...her favorite show!) anyway we ended up watching a movieinstead, Star Wars!!! She had NEVER seen it before...i could not let a beautiful girl go through life not having seen one of the ALL-TIME best movies ever (i am a dork, i know). She also liked the word "Wookie"...anyway...she LOVED it. i knew from that moment on that she was meant for me!!! We kept on the friendship trail till one day one of her friends asked me did I like her...i said yeah...she's great. her friend said, no do you like her, like her? i said if you're asking me if i like her for a girlfriend, i don't know...does she like me? needless to say, i said "hey, when it comes to things like if girls like guys or anything like that, i'd have to be hit in the head with a brick to notice." her friend said..."here's your brick".
so, i got up enough courage to one night write her a note telling her how i felt and that i wanted to move past friendship (i know, corny, but i could not tell her face to face...i had to write it down...i get more thoughts out that way) anyway, the whole time she's reading it, my stomach was in butterflies and my heart was about to beat out of my chest..."what if she says no? what if she doesn't feel the same way" was what i was thinking" well...she said yes!!! so we started dating and the rest as the cliche goes is history!!! Sunny is my alltime best friend and companion...she is the other half of me. I am a laid back, no-worries type of person and she is a go-getter, schedule first type of person (which i love about her). She keeps me in line and i don't know what i would do without her. it has been an amazing 3 years and we have been through a great deal together and God has provided for us every step of the way. He has now given us 3 little miracles that i can't believe are there. i have no doubt that he will continue to bless us...
so that is kind of a round about story of how we met and fell in love. hope all is well with every one...till next time
grace and peace

Awww...how sweet! It totally slipped my mind when I was talking to you Sunny that today was your anniversary. Happy Anniversary! You certainly did get a good one. When you and Brando started dating and I got to know him, he gave me hope that there really were good guys still out there.

Son, you are so right. Living in a small town in MS, going to elementary thru high school and the Northeast. Being in Scouts and band, working at Chick-fil-la. Hopefully we and it gave you a good start. But moving to UT "on faith" and like I always said God was either testing me, because you know how Dad and I were at that time or testing tou. God Knew!

You met and married the best! She is alot of the reason you made it thru getting your degree and so much more. Your love for each other and the way when one is weak the other is strong is hard to find in married couples these days.

We love her and you! God makes no mistakes!

Love ya'll,
Mom
